What?!?

Really? Wow.... if that is a true image of Baraka, than my interest may fade quickly. I like the original "Baraka" look in Rebirth. This looks like they are trying to make a B-Roll Mortal Kombat, and not "reinvent it."

So much negativity toward this. I don't understand, so many people upon seeing Rebirth (while liking the Alan Zane version) were hoping the series would have a more demonized Baraka. Now that KT has done that, you are complaining? Of course it won't be exact to the games, it's called an adaptation. Personally I think it looks kickass and I can't wait to see KT's Baraka in action.

There is no way that anyone can satisfy all the fans. Doesn't matter what movie you're trying to make. If you try and please everyone and include eveyone's favourite characters with their same character designs from the games then you please no one and end up with Annihilation. Appreciate this for what it is. An awesome looking series, that has gone a long way with a limited budget.

MKA was bad and should never be spoken of again.
I'll take my Legacy Baraka, please.

I'll take Legacy Baraka too. Better him than the "Grey's Anatomy" guy. I don't want any plastic surgeon in MK. MK team didn't made one, so every story that comes with Legacy Baraka it's more acceptable.

Wow! He's hideous. Sure, Baraka would never make People's Most Beautiful list, but his face in that picture is just unbearable to look at.

Why can't Baraka just look like Baraka? I mean, is it that much more far fetched than what they're feeding us now?

Incorrect.

We were hoping the series would have a more Tarkatan Baraka.

"demonized" is a generic term of genericness.

And this Baraka is an orc.
As I said, Alan Zane actually looked more like Baraka does in the games than this picture does.

Ok fair enough. However the origin of the Tarkata is that they are a crossbreed of Outworlders and Demons from the Netherrealm.

I don't really see how Alan Zane looks more like Baraka from the games than this new pic. Baraka looks like a demon. This pic looks like a demon.

I think people are being waaaaay too picky. So what he has a few strands of hair? So what he doesn't have a huge mouth with razor teeth that would need to be done with CGI. If they had a bigger budget I'm sure they would try and do that. But to make it look convincing they need a lot more money. They only had 2 Mill to use for the whole series. I'd much prefer they use that to create a fantastic web series rather than try and create Baraka's CGI mouth.

And even if they tried to use a prosthetic mouth, well, watch Annihilation and that's pretty much what you get.

People will never be happy..
seirously.. They complained about the Rebirth one, now complaining about this one.. People, Baraka as a Tarkatan is hard to do on a tight budget..
Baraka at his core was a nightmarish vision.. before the Tarkatans evolved, it was just a person with bigger arms, claws in their arms and a big head.. this is takin a different approach and bein horrific.
Seriously.. if i saw the rebirth one or annihilation one, i'd be like interestin.. if i saw this one, i'd be freaked out

Far from perfect, but I appreciate that it at least alludes to the source material. Not sure about this CGI mouth talk. Something just as elaborate could be achieved on a budget with animatronics, but I don't think a massive over the top mouth is a vital part of the character. They're using false teeth, might as well make them sharp. Either way, not a huge deal.

I don't really understand the thinking behind the hair, but it doesn't strip the character of identity the way the other version did. Here's hoping the episode makes good use of the character.

I think I'll be the first one to say that I actually kinda like it.

Tarkatans were never the pinnacles of monster design. Bald skull, teeth and pointy ears - pretty generic stuff. So even though he looks like a orc, compared to his usual design,it's at least somewhat fresh.

One thing I will agree on,though,is that the Alan Zane Baraka, looking back at it,was actually a much better design, what with all them freaky tribal piercings and whatnot.

I'm surprised at the number of people who dislike this and all the negative comments.

I personally like this design and he looks quite creepy.

And a gazillion light years better than that insulting "Dr. Baraka" concept.

He looks great.

I just can't stop hearing "Orc goblin orc goblin orc orc goblin goblin they're taking the hobbits to Isengard" in my head every time I look at it. I'm trying to. I'm trying so hard to look at this picture and see Baraka but he's just not there.
Does he at least have blades coming out of his arms? You can't even see them in this pic and I don't recall seeing them in the trailer but he went by so fast.

^^^ I honestly couldn't have said it any better.

Is Legacy Baraka perfect? No

Have we been waiting for a live-action series/movie for over ten years? Yes

If this is what we get, then be it! I am absolutely satisfied with everything KT has done with the franchise. I just don't get why everyone complains so much. But like Tyler mentioned, there NO WAY anyone can satisfy all the fans.

I think so, at the beginning of the Legacy trailer that debuted before the 1st episode, I think the first scene after Scorpion in the woods was Baraka in a sword fight with two people and it looked like the blades were in his arms. At least I think and hope that was Baraka.

Baraka was originally planned to have hair in MK2.

Plus, the actor probably will have to speak at some point. Baraka from the games should not be capable of speech, especially since he has no lips.

Trust me, i have a feeling this will look good when he makes an appearance.

Its all in the Lighting.

Doomsday looked pretty good on Smallville, but i seen a picture of the suit in natural light and it looked like crap.

While I'm not a huge fan of his look it doesn't really bother me
I think the thing to take into consideration is that it would be near impossible for the actor playing Baraka to emote or speak if they were to stick too close to the original design.
Come to think how on earth do Mileena and Baraka pronounce their P's and M's with no lips?

I think what should be kept in mind is that Baraka's look is really hard to replicate. Even the later 3D games IMO didn't really do him justice, and he doesn't come across the same way he did in MKII and MKT promotional pictures. Part of the magic of Baraka was the way the low resolution arcade game forced you to use your imagination to fill in the blanks. That doesn't really translate well to HD.

BTW, found these screencaps of the trailer online:
