- The movie is based on realism and completely re-images MK as creepy and uninviting. The film feels like SAW and Thirteen Ghosts (which liked better than the SAW series). It seems to take place solely on Earth with no mention of Outworld.

We don't know it for sure. And do you really want to say thta 13 Ghosts were realistic? What your assumptions is, is only your assumption, don't try to pass it as a fact.

- Shang Tsung comes off as a mob boss, which would make sense for a crime-drama, since the most of them utilize the Mafia as villains (Batman, The Shadow, etc).

We don't know it for sure.
He could be sorceror pretending that his a crime boss.

gorostilllives Wrote:
- Baraka as a surgeon gone serial killer. In the games, Baraka was a race of Nomad/Barakas. Therefore he wasn't considered mutated but of his race. This version of Baraka definitely needs more development before I can feel comfortable with this plot - why does he decide to go off the deep end is an important question that needs to be answered.

Origin altered, character is still the same.

gorostilllives Wrote:
- Reptile as a human with a disease. Really? The cretin that takes the form of a human is now a human with a rare disease? That also just so happens to eat heads like they were cakes? Seriously, that says it all.

Same as Baraka. Origin altered, character fundamentally himself. And funny that you mentioned about him eating heads - didn't Reptile done such thing in several of his Fatalities? Or MKR is different because he is putting them into the fridge or something?

gorostilllives Wrote:
- Scorpion is actually alive. So if this is supposed to be made of realism, how the hell does a human have white eyes and still be able to see? Often the eyes are dead in this case and they are blind. Sadly, I once seen a kid with a white, dead eye in passing, so I do know it's possible, but doubtful he can see.

Scorpion is still the same character - dead or not. That is the main thing.

Seems to much fuss about superfical things and panicked assumptions without any information.

MK Is more about Asian stuff and tributing kung fu cinema from the 70's and 80's than it's about fatalities. There's a reason everyone and everything on Shang's Island and in Outworld looks Japanese. MKR fails for the same reason MK3 is the black sheep of the franchise: it's the only one set in an urban American environment.

"Kung fu cinema" in MK ended with MK3. And as for "mystycism" what little was there, disappeared with Tobias departure. Later it was in the MK just for the aesthetics and nothing else.

By making MK realistic is what makes me lose the interest for the whole Rebirth project.

I wonder what actually should be done, so that people will finally get, that we don't know nothing about the series. And it could end up very differently then MKR clip.
No, instead it's better and simplier to lower yourself into whining and just hate the thing alltogether, even there is no information about it whatsoever!! How mature and open minded.

Have you seen the trailer for it? No where does it state that there is an other world trying to take over Earthrealm. They state that Scorpion has to enter an underground tournament where freakish people - HUMANS! - are participating, lead by Shang Tsung who, by the way, are never stated as being a sorcerer of any sort.

As far as I have seen, they have taken away what I find good about Mortal Kombat that differs it from the rest of the fighting games.

I judge from what I see. If it indeed changes, my judgement will change as well. I am not whining or hating it, I am saying that I have no real interest in this MK Rebirth project so far, because there isn't anything about it that catches my interest so far.

Bashing me because I don't share your opinion about it just shows you are lacking maturity and aren't being open-minded as you want me to be. I don't bash you for liking it.

It seems the writer of Rebirth is not returning to write the webisodes - they are just keeping the director and the fight choreographer. So perhaps it won't be the same story?

I wonder if the web series is going to cover the events in the trailer again or continue from after it.

Depends on if the series is actually based on the Rebirth trailer. If it is, id like it to take place after The trailer. The trailer worked as a nice introduction.

Oh fuck off with that "I didn't like MK4, DA, and Deception, so nothing in them counts" idiocy. That's not a valid argument, it's just being deliberately ignorant. Those games all absolutely went back to MK1 and 2's roots of Asian-looking settings and characters based on old kung fu film archetypes (very strongly so, in fact) and you're just writing them off out of personal preference.

While overall you are correct, I think he might have been referring to the fact that MK4-MKD was bankrupt with it's background material. Correct me if I am wrong though.

Which is plain wrong, if anything, MKDA and MKD had the most background material connected to asian themes. Of all the games. Like Shujinko's alt being the FRIGGIN' MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE KUNG FU WU XIA CLASSIC..... or Shang Tsungs ming attire robe in MKDA, or Hotaru and his Japanese samurai standard bearer design, the wholeness that is Dairou..... yes, that is paying very little omage to Kung Fu wu xia movies, unlike spandex ninjas and disco indians.

MK4, I will not argue MK4. That game has very little working for it.
