We already have some hints of where the Raiden episode goes with the character.

Story-wise, I'm pretty sure it's been revealed that the episode is about him being locked up in and/or escaping a mental hospital. So he's basically a ripoff of Ultimate Thor, a god in a mortal body who everyone thinks is crazy 'cause he says he's a god. Or maybe Raiden "takes mortal form" in K-Tanch's universe by literally possessing people and he chose a mental patient because no one would miss him, lol.

Looks-wise, I recall seeing a pic on Tancharoen's Twitter where he looks like just a boring looking normal guy with short hair and stubble in a white V-neck shirt that's obviously meant to very vaguely resemble his MK1 outfit.
Edit: Oh hey, found the pic. So yeah, pretty boring looking Raiden. Couldn't they have given him long white hair? Wouldn't long hair fit a crazy person pretty well? Are plain ol' wigs suddenly more expensive than CGI cyborgs, orc makeup, and animated vignettes now?

Um, probably. Hair can be sold for a high price, lol.
Still hate Ultimate Thor though, haha.

Shao Kahn definitely isn't what he's supposed to be, looks-wise and personality-wise. I mean, Shao Kahn with hair? Really? The least they could have done was make this guy bald.

Personality-wise, Kahn is way more vicious and evil. His soft spot for Sindel was a good touch but not to THAT extent. As soon as she walked away from him, he should have fucking grabbed her by the hair and said something like "Don't you ever dare walk away from me!!!" Instead, he lets her walk away. These are small details, but important details nontheless. Especially concidering this is Shao Kahn we're talking about.

Wigs are expensive. When my mother lost her hair while she was doing chemotherapy, she bought one, but it cost about $350, and some of them were much more pricey than that! I don't know how much all those other effects cost, but I doubt a realistic-looking wig would come cheaply. Plus, if the actor is good as Raiden, then hopefully his hair won't matter. People change their hair all the time, perhaps gods are no exception. Wigs are also uncomfortable to wear, according to my mom.

Only thing I didn't like is her fan is made out of paper. Why in the animation cut scenes, her fan is made out of metal, but in live action, they're clearly paper/wood?... And really? She killed the guy with a paper fan?

A proper wig is very expensive, but I love that look for Rayden. Very interesting, makes me want to know what they're going to do with the character.

I hope nothing too wacky. I've never really been a big Raiden fan, but I'm psyched for the Scorpion/Sub-Zero episode. Although I'm kind of confused about the time line they're going with here. When SZ/S first fight (and Scorpion dies), that takes place before the first touranment. Cyrax and Sektor don't get converted until after the second, and then pursue Smoke and the younger Sub-Zero. I guess I was under the impression that the web series takes place before the first touranment only, but perhaps I am wrong.

I wrote a lengthy criticism of part 1, but I left open the possibility that part 2 would save the episode as a whole. Again, the worry was that the episode was narrated away, and that our glimpse of the characters were too artificial to give them genuine expression. This part was clearly better than the last, but, still, the basic worry held throughout.

Good writing can do amazing things on a small budget.

Thankfully.

The real tessen (war fan) is made of wood. Like spears etc. There is absolutely no need for the whole fan to be metal.

And after what they did in Annihilation.... good god, those things were pathetic.

I think that it's going to be a very awesome "OMG they did it!" moment if instead of making him run everytime with his usual attire and hat, they give it to him in some sort of final fight or event. This would be very special if they do this way making us believe it's how he is going to look and then, TADAAAA Raiden goes nuts and appears with his godly attire.
