To be honest I don't think your clay sculptures are all that great. I'm not saying I could do better, they're just really lumpy and off looking. I give you props for trying and going so long on it, but they just don't look all that good.

For a clay figure, that's the best I have ever seen. Though the camera makes everything a little bit blury, to my eyes of course, but otherwise, it's cute.

I honestly only think that it's the camera that makes it look weird.

Most of his figures are disporportioned and oddly shaped. I realize it's hard with clay, but sculptors like Aculeus have proved otherwise.

@ ninja arts you're entitled to your view but keep in mind the cam I'm using is an average Webcam and that's not the best angle of this piece...unfortunately it's the best one I have, either that or a cell shot lol. And we all know how cell's turn out......plus dude, I disagree not all my pieces are as you say. And Aculeus uses figures, he doesn't sculpt from scratch ; ) big difference.

As for Clay, that's it's texture so not sure what you mean with lumpy but whatever lol

Everyone else thanks, ; )

Anywho, here's better pics guys and gals that check this out. Enjoy!

You'll all get a better idea, originally I submitted 3 pics but it didn't take just one so here's the rest of the best shots I took along with a youtube vid I made for this Sculpture of Dark Superman vs. Scorpion.

Scorp's spear thru Superman's arm.

Scorpion shots:

P.S. here's the youtube video so that everyone can get a better overall idea of how Supes and Scorpion battle in this concept. And yes, that's really my voice I know I sound evil lol....sorry if the quality isn't good enough, it's what I have.

Enjoy!

Evil, pure evil is what I have to say with these pictures. And I mean that in a good way. Despite the camera making things appear in a reddish tint, (And I'm sure that's everyone always complaining about) this sculpture (and the video) looks very interesting.

Ha, Ha I was wondering when someone was going to ask me that. I made them with thin, flexible, wires that are normally used for flowering, tying and wrapping.

The purpose of them is keeping them stiff as well as wires for armatures, that's the endoskeleton used in some sculptures for positioning, keeping the pose the way you want it. It's also easier to sculpt that way, keeps the sculpture whole more stiff and easier to work with( I use that sometimes depending on the sculpture I'm making glasses )

I used that kind of thin, flowering wire, then painted it Red showing the "Red Heat Vision Effect"grin

Yeah dude, lol there was no way in hell I was going to do that with any kind of Clay

It's honestly a beautiful sculpture.Did you use the same flowering wire for Scorpion's spear or something different?

Hey I know I'm a little late on this but... Is that your real voice on that video or did you just edit it to make your voice like that? I only ask out of pure curiosity.

Hey there, thanks. Ohh and yes to answer your question, I did use a similar wire just shorter in length.smile

I use both flowering wire and wire for sculptures/armatures.

Not bad. Work on your craftmanship some more. I've never really used clay extensively before, so I really don't know much about it. But things look a bit lumpy, and porportion seem a little out of place. Maybe it's the clay your using, but I think it can look better/ professional. Perhaps combine clay with other mediums (e.g paint)?

Is this the type of clay you have to heat up/fire?

It's most likely the clay, you see the kind I use has to be kept at room temperature....and that allows it to be VERY poseble, flexible and not as "stiff" as clays that you bake or harden....this doesn't harden.

I don't think it looks lumpy, it just seems that way because of the type of clay I use. And being now that it's very hot, I have to work in a cooler place like the basement for example or have a fan blowing on me and the sculpture while I work.

But thanks for commenting

I strongly advise you to use bigger clayshapes.

Oh and btw, if you have spare kitchen stuff like spoons, knives etc which are obsolete, or manicure equipment...use them. They can work wonders with the surface stuff or putting smaller doodads on the figures.

dude, ninja_arts, "aculeus" NEVER sculpted anything. the "sculpture" your referring to was actually a gene simmons figure that he added stuff to and repainted. he has yet to submit anything in the line of clay-based art. so in truth, "aculeus" has proven nothing toward the subject at hand.

although, i do love the figure he did.

and mkflegend is getting better by the minute. looks dramatic.

@ Chrome and ninja snowman, thanks for the tips guys. I'll try to implement that and improve as much as I can.

I do have spoons, and sculpting tools but I do admit I've lost some lol so I try to improvise with what I have.glasses
