Thought i'd try to redesign some of the characters from Mortal Kombat for fun. Here's Liu Kang! I feel, you cant really mess to much with Liu Kang since he has a good simple classic design. I very much like the art for this one, but he looks pretty Caucasian, especially the hair.

It's like an update of the MK3 arts, from the instruction booklet.

This would make a great painting.

The neck bothers me. It's looks a bit too thick.

Well, the hair seems a little curly. I cant think of too many Asians that naturally have curly hair...it's normally straight. I think that might be what Luca might be referring to.

It doesn't look curly at all. There's just a very few little straggling strands that are bent at the ends which, at best, imply a little messiness.

I guess its hard for me to describe, it seems like its parted to the side, very formal. I wouldn't imagine a shaolin monk with that kinda style.

I think it looks more windswept or messy than deliberately styled or anything. Some people's hair just parts on the side. Mine tries to when I sleep on it funny.
Besides, no hairstyle could be weirder for Liu than the giant Superman spitcurl or whatever that was supposed to be that his bluescreen actor had going on in MK3.

You know, thats how his hair looked like in MK2, thats what i was going for.

Hmm, I'm looking at his character portrait from MK2 now, and I see what you mean. Guess it just looks a little bit more fancy in yours, and I'm probably just used to seeing him with his long straight hair from his last several iterations.
